The Academy for Nature Centered Human Development

Teaching skills that heal the perceived separation between humans and nature

If you’re reading this, you know that human beings are out of sync with themselves and the natural world. This disconnection leads to an imbalance in ourselves and our societies, and in turn this carries a devastating cost for people and the planet. You also probably know that while change is needed, structural changes and intellectual development, while useful, are only part of the solution.

At the individual and community level, we need education that supports transformative experience and provides practical skills for navigating daily life. When people and communities are confident, resilient, and empowered to act as the agents of their own lives, their unique contributions and intelligence can be actualized for the benefit of themselves and the world.

Wild Vessel is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to developing and delivering nature-based education that offers this kind of practical, vital learning. Recognizing the deep value of and need for healthier communities, we are engaged in building online and in-person connections among our members. At the heart of our work is a spirit of open inquiry reflected in ongoing research and development in disciplines like spiritual teaching and skill development, village-scale and online community building, and organization design.

My greatest take away has been learning how to embrace myself and how to set intentions for my truth. I was kind of operating on autopilot for a long time, caught between a demanding job, pursuit of my hobbies, managing a relationship and my social life, there wasn’t much room in my head or my heart to really tune in to how *I* felt and what *I* wanted.

Join the Next Stage of Wild Vessel Development

With our first prototype course live, dozens of live virtual events under development, and an experienced team, Wild Vessel is growing quickly. As we look toward the next stage of development we're excited to open up opportunities for both institutions and individual donors to join the effort.

Currently we’re accepting donations to support the following initiatives:

Educational Media Innovation

Building digital courses that are sensual and culturally cutting edge, that transform people's motivations and behaviors, and that enliven and heal our attention rather than capture it.

Scholarships

We never want finances to be the obstacle that prevents someone who is ready to take responsibility for their development from accessing the support in Wild Vessel. We will match all donations 1:1 in our scholarship fund.

Collaborative Wisdom Teaching

We are supporting a diverse group of wisdom keepers to break the habit of solo teaching and work together to weave a coherent, long-term community curriculum.

Team & Org Economics

Establishing a transparent revenue share model that liberates wisdom keepers and an organizational structure that significantly reduces extractive, short-term motivations.

Community Development

We are prioritizing the depth and quality of the culture of our community by building Wild Vessel on an elegant, ad-free social platform and financially incentivizing community participation in Wild Vessel's improvement.

Research

Wild Vessel's public research is meant to support cross-organizational learning toward accomplishing our shared mission. We will launch our research program for ongoing reporting on our community and curriculum development.

Get in Touch

The change from isolation to community, from self-interest to shared interests starts with all of us working together. We look forward to taking the next step toward a wiser, more balanced world with your help.

If you’d like to discuss how you or your organization can support this effort, we would love to hear from you.

Learn more about Wild Vessel

Learn more below about the people building Wild Vessel, where we’re going, and how we’ll get there together.

"To be truly and vibrantly alive, some element of wildness, an absence of conditioning, constraint, and control, is necessary. When (and where) wildness ceases, the most vital and dynamic aspect of life and creation also dies.
To be wild is to refer to a world which is unconstrained, unconditioned, and uncontrolled. The wild refers to a nature which is alive and dynamic. Wildness refers to a space, an environment that has life in it, but which is not therefore civil, domesticated, or even known to the objective marketplace world. It is that place for which there is no map, and little understanding Wildness is when and where the sub-consciousness (and to some extent, the unconsciousness) rules more strongly the the conscious. Wildness has no purpose, and contains few values. Rather, the wild is defined directly as a meaningfulness of life; a desire, passion, and instinct to continue to live free (ultimate survival). To appreciate wildness is to appreciate the cauldron of life."
